Hi, my lovely, artistic, and hopefully a little whimsical friends! I’m Caroline Dunkley, and I’m here to help you escape the world, even if it’s just for a little bit, and reconnect with your inner creative self. Truth be told, for as long as I can remember, I feel like I’ve lived in a world of my own—one that is a little like reality but also not. Sort of like Alice in Wonderland, I’ve created my own little world, one that’s 10x more colorful, vibrant, and abstract than the real world. Because, really, what is life without some drama and flair? Well, that is a question that I’d rather remain a mystery with no answers.

To let you in on a bit more about myself, well, I have a degree in fine arts. I’ve always known a paintbrush suits my hands better than computer keys or medical instruments. With every stroke of my brush against the canvas, I feel a little bit of my inner child heal. Of course, art is not always beautiful, but isn’t that the best part? It can be filled with gore, lust, your deepest darkest secrets, but it can also be the source of your happiness—the light in your life. Inspiration is everywhere— inside you, in your surroundings and scattered across the world. Imagination is something that has freed me and saved me multiple times.

Of course, I’ve naturally suffered multiple creative blocks during my time with artistic expression, but at times like that, I try nurturing my creative energy and channelling it through other mediums that force it out of myself. Writing some poetry or strumming the guitar strings for a change helps me reconnect with my core and unleash more creativity. I understand that being creative can be challenging and has the potential to burn you out, especially when it is expected from you constantly. But, at times like that, I like reminding myself that my art belongs to me; my art doesn’t have to answer any conventions; my art is mine alone. So, don’t be afraid to try your hand at different things—there is no such thing as terrible art—you just have to believe in yourself and get started. I guess what I’m trying to get at is that my wish for you and me is that we can get truly comfortable with our creative juices, cut all ties with the fear of judgement, and be resilient enough to continue doing what we love against all odds! This is the story behind my blog. I want to create a safe space for us to embrace our craft.
